Kipling house (highlighted in red on the satellite image to the left) is centrally located on campus in a building that was originally called the KBM block - so named as it housed Kipling, Batten and Melvill houses. However, after Melvill was transformed into a girls' house and moved to a new location on the school campus, Kipling took over the upper two floors of the three storey building with Batten remaining below. |

Kipling has two kitchens, including a fantastic 'Diner' and two common rooms, providing boys with entertainment when out of lessons. The rooms are mainly used for recreation with a pool and table tennis table and, of course, TVs. although the larger, downstairs games rooms provides a convenient place for house meetings.

Every Thursday is designated as 'in-night' at Haileybury, which means pupils stay in their respective houses for the evening as opposed to visiting friends elsewhere. This provides a perfect opportunity to host various events including house house karaoke, or a BBQ. Often however, boys will order out food from the local pizzeria or chinese resturaunt and sit together to watch a film.
On every other evening pupils are free to socialise where they like, in Kipling, in other houses, or outside if the weather permits it. |

Pupils from all 5 years have full boarding facilities, with the amenities increasing as pupils progress through the school. The first two year are generally spent in the dormitory, home to the younger students, a space that acts as both a peaceful working environment for all in the Removes and Middles (year 9 and 10) as well as a place of social happenings. The day-boys are allocated a desk and extra beds in the dorm allow these boys to board on various occasions if they wish.
As pupils progress to the Fifth Form, they will share a room, and then once reaching the Lower and Upper Sixth boys will have their own private study with comfortable space and a sink. Haileybury is of course a co-educational school and girls are welcome in the house , although are asked only to visit the common areas and sixth form studies at certain times! |
